PG&E Utility Pole

PG&E Utility Pole #101981700 is the last in the line on Amber Way:

  • High voltage lines from the next nearest pole 200 feet away feed the top of pole #101981700
  • A canister transformer steps down the voltage for the two houses served by pole #101981700
  • Low voltage wires go from pole #101981700 to 478 Amber Way, which is about 50 feet away
  • Low voltage wires go from pole #101981700 to 470 Amber Way, which is about 125 feet away

For the lowest cost to both homeowners, we would like to do the following:

  1. For 470 Amber Way, underground all PG&E electrical service
  2. For 478 Amber Way, depending on total cost, do one of the following:

    • a. Underground underground all PG&E electrical service, or
    • b. Go off-the-electrical-grid and generate/run all house electricity via Solar panels/Tesla PowerWall or similar batteries
  3. Have PG&E remove the high voltage wires and pole #101981700

PG&E identified two possible transformers to which we could hook up 470 Amber Way, below.

AB.57 passed in 2015: the firefighers Union was opposed to a similar California "Small Cell" bill, called Assembly Bill No. 57. They lobbied against AB.57 side-by-side with homeowners and the residents of CA, who also opposed AB.57, until the firefighters Union flip-flopped on 7/15/15 the morning of the 7/15/15 CA Senate Governance and Finance Committee hearing, and came out in Support of AB.57 because they had cut a deal on the evening of 7/14/15 that added paragraph (f) to AB.57:

SECTION 1. Section 65964.1 is added to the Government Code, to read:

65964.1. (f) Due to the unique duties and infrastructure requirements for the swift and effective deployment of firefighters, this section does not apply to a collocation or siting application for a wireless telecommunications facility where the project is proposed for placement on fire department facilities.

SB.649 was vetoed In 2017, but the Bill could come back in 2018:

This is pole #101981700 that is about 50 feet from my front door.

PG&E contractors last week tagged pole #101981700
for structural upgrades; I am not sure what is PG&E’s
plan for this pole, but I don’t want a a so-called
“Small Cell” cell tower antenna to be placed on this pole.
